ASTANA. KAZINFORM - One of the most talented forwards of HC Barys Astana of the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) Brandon Bochenski sat down with Kazinform correspondent to talk about Kazakh national cuisine and Nauryz holiday.

Brandon, this is your fourth season with Barys. Did you have a chance to get to know local culture, traditions and holidays better? Despite the fact that I've been in Kazakhstan for the past four years, I'm still getting to know local traditions and holidays. Over here there are more of these, then in the States. For example, the 8th of March, Nauryz. To be honest, I don't have much time. We train a lot. I have a lot of friends in Kazakhstan and they all tell me about local traditions and customs, it's quite interesting. How do you celebrate Nauryz? Sure, it is a great holiday. I try to celebrate whenever I can. I don't know much about it, but I do like it. I doubt, I will have a chance to celebrate it this year since we've made it to the second round of the Gagarin Cup playoffs and are facing a tough competitor. We've worked hard for that to happen. Do you have any favorite dishes of Kazakh cuisine? I like Kazakh cuisine. Beshbarmak, for example. What would you like to wish Kazakhstanis on the eve of Nauryz holiday? I wish all people of Kazakhstan happiness and good luck! Thank you and good luck with Salavat Yulaev! The first Barys vs Salavat Yulaev playoff games will take place in Astana on March 21 and 22. After that the clubs will clash in Ufa. This is the first time ever that Barys advanced past the first round of the Gagarin Cup playoffs.
