Addressing the sportsmen - participants of the Asian Games and spectators President Nursultan Nazarbayev said that Kazakhstan for the first time hosts the Asiad.

"The country has thoroughly prepared for the Asian Games. We built a range of new sporting facilities, including the Astana-Arena stadium," the President said. "The Asian Games open a number of important events this year when we mark the 20^th anniversary of Kazakhstan's independence."
