ASTANA. November 5. KAZINFORM It is extremely difficult for businessmen in Kazakhstan to get grant assistance under the microlending program, believes Majiliswoman Svetlana Romanovskaya.

"We occasionally travel around the regions of Kazakhstan and are aware that entrepreneurs can hardly get the grants under the microlending program. We do not understand what are the reasons behind that, but one thing is for sure: the money alloted for the microlending program does not work as it should. The businessmen in the regions cannot get the grant assistance, they do not know how to get it," the Majilis deputy told a Tuesday press briefing of the Central Communications Service.

"After these questions had been raised at the extended session of the Government with the participation of President Nazarbayev on October 11, the Government reported that 14 applications for micro loans were approved in Akmola region, 5 - in Karaganda region, and 19 - in South Kazakhstan region. However, there is still no word about the situation in Almaty and East Kazakhstan regions," Ms Romanovskaya noted.
