ASTANA. KAZINFORM - Head of State Nursultan Nazarbayev has received credentials from foreign ambassadors accredited in Kazakhstan in the Akorda presidential residence today, Kazinform reports.

Ambassador of the Kingdom of Sweden Mats Foyer, Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba Emilio Pevida Pupo, Ambassador of the Republic of India Prabhat Kumar and Ambassador of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland Mike John Gifford presented their credentials to President Nazarbayev.

At the ceremony, the Kazakh President welcomed the foreign diplomats and wished them interesting and fruitful work in Astana. "I hope that your mission will be successful and contribute to all-round development of relations between our countries. I wish and your families to have a great time on the Kazakh soil," the Head of State noted in his remarks.

The President noted that since the first days of independence Kazakhstan has been conducting the multi-vector foreign policy aimed at cooperation and dialogue will all members of the international community. And, of course, the UK is one of them.

"Cooperation between our countries is based on mutual respect and trust. Today, the UK is one of the largest investors and trade partners of Kazakhstan. My visit to London in 2015 gave a powerful impulse to this fruitful interaction. We should make use of our bilateral potential in innovative and technologies spheres," Nazarbayev stressed.

The Head of State also assured that Kazakhstan attaches great importance to development of cooperation with Sweden. "Last year our countries have commenced their work in the UN Security Council and continue to closely cooperate on the most pressing issues of the international agenda," he explained.

According to President Nazarbayev, Kazakhstan considers India as its important political and trade partner.

"I genuinely welcome the accession of your country into the SCO as a full-fledge member. I am confident that your country will bring new dynamics and depth to SCO activity. On the sidelines of the SCO Summit, I met with Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi during which we had a detailed discussion of current problems in bilateral relations and gave specific instructions to government bodies of the two countries in order to step up trade and economic cooperation," the Kazakh leader underscored.

The Head of State also reiterated Kazakhstan's interest in expanding bilateral cooperation with Cuba. "Kazakh-Cuban ties have been gaining momentum recently. In the course of negotiations with the Cuban authorities, we have determined new prospects of further cooperation. It is crucial to continue our work to gin up trade and political interaction," Nursultan Nazarbayev said.

The President of Kazakhstan assured the foreign dignitaries that Kazakhstan will create all conditions for their fruitful work in the country.
