ALMATY. January 31. KAZINFORM. On Monday morning the first set of medals was played at the 7th Winter Asian Games. A host country's athlete Olga Novikova claimed the first gold in Women' Ski Orienteering Sprint.

Her finish time was 13 min 4.7 sec. Silver was won by Chinese athlete Liu Xaoting who was 4 min 25.1 sec. The third in the Top 3 was another representative of Kazakhstan Yevgeniya Kuzmina. Her result was 18 min 46.8 sec, Kazinform cites the AWG Organising Commitee's press service.

"I don't not undertand that I have won the first gold of the Games, - Novikova said after the finish. - Maybe I will feel it during the medal ceremony! Sprint was not too easy: I did a mistake at one of points but I took myself due to fast speed. I wasn't afraid of my opponents. I competed with myself, because I was excited at the start point".
