International Book Giving Day
It has been celebrated annually since 2012. The main aim is to popularize reading among the younger generation and to provide access to books for as many children all over the world as possible.

Valentine's Day
It is the most romantic holiday. On that non-public holiday celebrated in many countries, people confess their love for each other.


In 1992, by the Resolution of the Kazakhstan State Onomastic Commission, Guryev region and the city of Guryev were renamed Atyrau region and the city of Atyrau, respectively, and Pavlodar region's Yermakov district was renamed Aksu district.

In 1994, the Republic of Kazakhstan joined the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and became its 121st member.

In 1997, Washington, D.C. hosted the meeting between the Presidents of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the United States of America. As a result of the talks, President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev and his American Counterpart Bill Clinton signed the Charter on Democratic Partnership.

Kazakhstan's Denis Ten, a bronze medalist of the XXII Olympic Winter Games, struck gold at the 2015 Four Continents Figure Skating Championships in Seoul, the Republic of Korea.

In 2017, Kazakhstan joined the world's top five countries in terms of the number of professional boxing titles held.

The same day, a mobile application providing government e-services, was recognized as the best one-stop application in the World GovTechioneers Race at the World Government Summit hosted by Dubai. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates, and Ruler of the Emirate of Dubai, presented the prize.

Sattigali Zholdasbay, a 12th-grade student of the Aktau Nazarbayev Intellectual School, created a SMART skull-cap for blind and visually people also that day. The skull-cap has a motion sensor that signals to the vibration motor, which was taken from a standard cell phone.

In 2018, Olympic Channel released a documentary about Denis Ten, a bronze medalist of the Sochi Olympics, as part of Game Breakers project. The first episode reveals the life of the Kazakhstani figure skater and tells how he managed to glorify Kazakhstan in that sport.
