25 years ago, the Consortium of OJSC Kazakhstan Caspian shelf, a multi-purpose service geophysical enterprise, was established. Its main objectives are the exploration of oil and gas fields in Kazakhstan's section of the Caspian Sea, oil operations; research of reserves and sources of mineral resources in the region, effective development of deposits in the Kazakhstan part of the Caspian shelf.

24 years ago, during the official visit of President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev to the United States, a number of documents were signed, including the Charter of Democratic Partnership, an agreement on cooperation between the two countries in the field of science and technology, the exchange of technical information and cooperation in the field of nuclear security, the tripartite agreement between Kazakhstan, the U.S. and Russia on technological guarantees in connection with the launch of the artificial satellite Inmarsat-3, and the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons.

15 years ago, the First International Conference of Peace and Harmony was held in Almaty on behalf of the Head of State. The event was attended by presidents of Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, the state minister of Turkey, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, and the adviser to the President of Afghanistan, as well as religious figures.

13 years ago, within the framework of the Perpetuation of the Memory of State Figures program, a 30-volume collection of works of the legendary Kazakh writer-warrior Bauyrzhan Momyshuly was published.

12 years ago, the OSCE Center in Almaty and the NGO Center for the Promotion of Democracy presented the Guide to Alternative Methods of Conflict Resolution. The book contains information on existing theories on mediation and conflict resolution, as well as training materials in this area.

11 years ago, the Orchestra of Kazakh Folk Musical Instruments of the Akmola regional philharmonic society was named after the outstanding Kazakh composer, laureate of the State Prize, Honored and People's Artist of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Professor Kenzhebek Kumisbekov.

Five years ago, following the nuclear test carried out by the DPRK on February 12, 2013, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Geneva, Mukhtar Tleuberdi addressed the Plenary session of the UN Conference on Disarmament with a special statement.

The Kazakh diplomat stated that Kazakhstan, as a state that voluntarily renounced nuclear weapons, strongly condemns North Korea violating special resolutions of the UN Security Council, adding that the launch caused irreparable damage to the non-proliferation of nuclear weapons and lead to security destabilization both on the Korean peninsula and globally.
