EXPO-2017 to become a «catalyst» of deepening dialogue on most pressing issues

ASTANA. May 8. KAZINFORM - The International Exhibitions Bureau (BIE) headquarters in Paris held a meeting of the BIE executive committee.

The Kazakh side was represented by Rapil Zhoshybayev, the Commissioner of the International specialized exhibition EXPO-2017, Secretary of the MFA; Nurlan Kapparov, the Minister of Environment, Talgat Ermegiyaev, the Chairman of the Board of "NC" Astana EXPO-2017 "JSC and Nurlan Danenov, the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan in France.

At the meeting Rapil Zhoshybayev told about the organizational aspects of the preparation and holding of EXPO-2017, provided information on the work done in the last 5 months, mentioned the establishment of the "National Company" Astana EXPO-2017 "JSC.

"We hope that holding EXPO-2017 will become a "catalyst " to deepen the dialogue and develop joint solutions within the framework of the international community's most pressing challenges", said R. Zhoshybayev.

The Chairman of the Board of "NC"Astana EXPO-2017" JSC presented information about the land area dedicated for Expo-2017, a preliminary master plan for the exhibition including the balance of the pavilions and the intended use of the facilities following the event.

The agenda of the meeting of the BIE executive committee were presented reports on the preparation process for the exhibition EXPO-2015 in Milan, horticultural exhibition in Antalya in 2016 and the results of the expert committee report related to visiting the countries claiming to host Expo 2020. It bears to remind that 5 states - Turkey (Izmir), Thailand (Ayutaya), Russia (Yekaterinburg), UAE (Dubai) and Brazil (Sao Paulo) are fighting for the right to host the Expo in 2020.
