Experience and political wisdom of N. Nazarbayev strongly sought for in the society, view
Deputy, deputy chairman of the Security and Defense Committee of Milli Mejlis of Azerbaijan Aidyn Mirzazade, who led the TurkPA Observation Mission, shared his view concerning the elections held.
"First of all I would like to note the presidential election is the country's internal affair and the Kazakh society, undoubtedly, knows what way to follow and how to settle urgent issues it faces.
As the head of the TurkPA Observation Mission consisting of 6 people I visited 6 polling stations. It may be said the elections were democratic and in line with the Constitution, election law of Kazakhstan, and obligations the country undertook under the international legislation.
As is known, four candidates run for the presidency. One of them was the incumbent President who won a landslide victory. Unlike the other candidates Nursultan Nazarbayev refused to campaign. The election campaign was full of political intrigue and alternative idea.
Large percentage of votes cast for Nursultan Nazarbayev was an evaluation of his political activities over the past 20 years of Kazakhstan's independence. Nursultan Nazarbayev approved himself as a shrewd leader and a man who efficiently tackles the problems the country faces. His solid experience, high authority secured him an absolute majority of votes at the elections.
I am confident the election is another step in making the nationhood of Kazakhstan as a democratic state, its integration into the international community.
Kazakhstan successful both in making the nationhood and economic development takes the lead in the region. I am sure Kazakhstan will further withhold its regional leadership.
The political wisdom of President Nursultan Nazarbayev is also worthy of respect. It was him to act in line with the Constitution and reject extending his powers at the referendum and decide to campaign for the presidency.
I believe the experience and political wisdom of Nursultan Nazarbayev will be further strongly sought for in the Kazakh society."
