ASTANA. September 14. KAZINFORM On Saturday, September 10, Samruk Dance Company from Almaty performed an evening of modern dance at the Opera and Ballet Theater in Astana that included four dances by American choreographers Rebecca Rice and Paul Emerson, the press service of the United Stated Diplomatic Mission to Kazakhstan said.

The program included the premiere of "Uplift," a dance specifically choreographed for Samruk Dance Company by Rebecca Rice, and Paul Emerson's "Falling," "Thoughts About Passing Time," and "Falling into the Sea."

This collaborative project with Samruk Dance Company was the result of joint efforts by U.S. Embassy; Company E (formerly known as CityDance), the Washington-based modern dance company (http://www.companye.org/ , http://vimeo.com/citydance ); Rebecca Rice Dance (http://www.rebeccaricedance.com ) and Anna Weinstein of the Ballets Russes Foundation (http://www.ballets-russes.com ) in Boston.
