EU to help Kazakhstan join the top 30 developed countries, Nazarbayev

BRUSSELS. KAZINFORM "A new Agreement on the extended partnership and copoperation between Kazakhstan and the EU lays the foundation for enhanced cooperation between Kazakhstan and the European Union in a wide range of spheres," President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev said following the talks with President of the European Commission José Manuel Barroso in Brussels.

"Kazakhstan is the only country of Central Asia to sign the new agreement with the EU of the second generation. It is the evidence that our relations embark on a new level and it proves strategic maturity of our partnership," the Kazakh Leader noted. According to him, this Agreement lays the solid foundation to broaden cooperation between Kazakhstan and the EU in a wide range of spheres. The sides intend to strengthen cooperation in legal sphere, to counter terrorism and fight organized transnational crime and corruption. The President also briefed on Kazakhstan's 2050 Development Strategy aimed at the country's accession to the top 30 developed countries of the world. "The EU will help us achieve this goal taking into account the EU potential and unique practice in various fields. We count on support of the European partners in realization of ambitious tasks facing the country," the President of Kazakhstan said.
