ASTANA. March 29. KAZINFORM /Murat Zhakeyev/ "The European Union (EU) hopes that Kazakhstan will take an active part in completion of the project at the Chernobyl NPP on erection of a sarcophagus at the reactor suffered following the Chernobyl disaster in 1986," Ambassador, Head of Delegation of the European Union to Kazakhstan Norbert Jousten told journalists in Astana.

"The EU and international community intend to help Ukraine mount sarcophagus at the reactor and build disposal sites for unused atomic stock. We hope that Kazakhstan will also take an active part in completion of this project in terms of funding the efforts necessary to have this project finished," Mr Jousten told today upon completion of the official meeting with Secretary of State - Foreign Minister of Kazakhstan Kanat Saudabayev.
