MINSK. January 31. KAZINFORM The decision to introduce the single currency in the Single Economic space (SES) requires careful consideration, State Secretary -Deputy Foreign Minister of Russia Grigory Karasin told reporters.

According to the Deputy Minister, one of the 2011 highlights was, first of all, the launch of the Customs Union, further progress towards the Eurasian Economic Union. "Very much depends on how we implement these agreements. Today in Belarus we discussed how it is important to organize expert presentations of the achievements which we have already made," he said.

According to BelTA, Grigory Karasin noted that there are financial issues among those which are currently on the agenda. These are "What will happen to the ruble. Do we need a new currency unit for the Eurasian Economic Union?" These are difficult questions. You do not solve them at once. But as a form of further integration, further deepening of the integration itself the subject deserves very careful attention," said Grigory Karasin.

In turn, former Ambassador of Belarus to Russia Vasily Dolgolev noted that the philosophy of integration is based on a monetary union. "I think this question requires the qualifications of the highest level. At the same time, I believe the movement towards a monetary union is inevitable. Therefore, we need to work on this," Vasily Dolgolev said.
