International Civil Aviation Day
The holiday was established in 1996 by the United Nations General Assembly at the initiative of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).


EVENTS

"Molodezh Mira O Kazakhstane" ("World Youth about Kazakhstan") documentary dedicated to Kazakhstan Independence Day and the First President of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev, was created in 2010. Young people from various countries including the U.S., Austria, Italy, India, Spain, the Republic of Korea, Switzerland, took part in the filming. Besides, the filmmakers used archival records about the presidency and the life of Nursultan Nazarbayev.

In 2012, a monument commemorating Raiymbek Batyr, a great Kazakh hero who fought against Dzungar invaders, was unveiled in Almaty.

In 2015, Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev signed the Constitutional Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan "On the Astana International Financial Centre (AIFC)".

Atyrau hosted the official inauguration of the Kashagan Offshore Oil Field Project in 2016. Kashagan Field is the first offshore oil and gas field in Kazakhstan's sector of the Caspian Sea and the largest international investment project in Kazakhstan.

The same day Kazakhstan's climbing team won 6 gold, 3 silver, 1 bronze medals at the Central Asian Youth Climbing Championship in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan.

In 2017, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) submitted "Kazakh traditional Asyk Game" to the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

Paralympian swimmer Zulfiya Gabidullina of Kazakhstan won a gold medal at the Mexico City 2017 that very day.

The closing ceremony of the year of Turkestan as the Cultural Capital of the Turkic World took place the same day. During the ceremony, according to the decision of the 35th session of the Permanent Council, the flag and the symbol of the cultural capital of the Turkic world for 2018 were handed over to Kastamonu, Turkey.
