Customs Union encourages less power-hungry household appliances
According to BelTA, the official said that some electric appliances in standby mode account for 5-15% of the costs involved in using them. The matter should be raised before manufacturers of household appliances, believes Valery Koreshkov.
Two technical regulations on energy effectiveness, including the reduction of energy consumption by household appliances, will be worked out in the Customs Union. One of the regulations will provide markings for electric devices that will be rated by their power efficiency up to A2+, A3+ in compliance with EU directives, Valery Gurevich, Director of the Belarusian State Institute for Standardization and Certification, told media.
The second technical regulation will lay down energy effectiveness standards for various groups of products, including batch-produced electric appliances, said Valery Gurevich. The regulation is designed to reduce power consumption, strictly limiting standby power consumption. It will also stipulate methods to control how these standards are observed.
