CSTO Security Council Secretaries to meet in Mir 1 June

According to BelTA, the session will take place in the town of Mir, Grodno Oblast, on 1 June. CSTO Security Council Secretaries will discuss the initiative of Belarus to create the CSTO Partnership Institute. The session will also focus on the situation in the world and its impact on the CSTO member states' security.

The Collective Security Treaty (CST) was signed in Tashkent on 15 May 1992. In May 2002 the Collective Security Council took a decision to reorganize cooperation mechanisms between the CST member states into an international regional organization - Collective Security Treaty Organization. The CSTO Charter came into force in September 2003. The Organization comprises Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, the Russian Federation, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
