CSTO is preparing for massive influx of Afghan refugees

ASTANA. KAZINFORM - CSTO countries are discussing measures to be taken in case of a possible mass influx of refugees from Afghanistan, this has been announced after the meeting of the Coordinating Council of the chiefs of the competent authorities of the CSTO member states on combating illegal migration which took place on February 4 in Kaliningrad (Russia).

«CSTO Secretariat at the meeting of Coordinating Council of the chiefs of the competent authorities of the CSTO member states on combating illegal migration reported on the establishment of a system of contact points for regular collection, compilation and exchange of information on a single statistical form to ensure monitoring of the situation related to the potential for a mass influx of refugees from Afghanistan», the statement reads.

The round table also discussed the issues of conducting complex of search and special operations to combat human trafficking in 2014. There has been approved work plan of Coordinating Council of the chiefs of the competent authorities of the CSTO member states on combating illegal migration for 2014.

The next meeting will be held in September 2014 in Tajikistan.
