NSK. October 27. KAZINFORM The consolidation of CSTO countries in the international arena is a good trend, said President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko as he met with participants of the session of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly Council in Minsk on 26 October.

According to BelTA, Secretary General of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) Nikolai Bordiuzha reminded that the recent events within the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly framework demonstrated the capability of the joint steps of all the delegations that make up the CSTO. In his words, it is the efforts of the CSTO member states that blocked the anti-Belarusian resolutions that some European countries had been preparing. "I believe the practice is very positive and it truly highlights the capacity that the Parliamentary Assembly has nowadays," said Nikolai Bordiuzha.

Alexander Lukashenko believes that consequences of the step made by Belarus' allies in the CSTO were important. "A session of the so-called Eastern Partnership took place a while ago. Once again they started lecturing and bending Belarusians. We refused to participate in the summit. What did our partners in the Eastern Partnership do? Everyone, not only the CSTO states but also Georgia and Azerbaijan, they were the initiators even, and Ukraine that had a special view, everyone spoke against bending Belarus," said the President. "And the move was initiated by the CSTO. It is worth a lot. It is now a trend that cannot go unnoticed".

"Yes, we do have some peculiarities just like any country has but there are sacred things that concern everyone. We cannot avoid them. The closer to each other we are, the better it is for us," believes the Belarusian head of state.
