CIS Observation Mission head arrives in Astana

ASTANA. March 31. KAZINFORM Head of the CIS Observation Mission to monitor the early presidential elections of Kazakhstan Sergey Lazarev has arrived in Astana, the headquarters of the CIS Mission reports.

Lazarev is expected to have talks with executives of the Central Election Commission, Government and Foreign Ministry, visit territorial and district election commission of Astana city.

On the day of elections, April 3, Sergey Lazarev will monitor the voting process in Astana and meet head of the OSCE/BDIHR Mission Daan Evarts.

The CIS Observation Mission consists of 426 observers representing 9 member states, CIS Interparliamentary Assembly, Parliamentary Assembly of the Union of Russia and Belarus, CSTO Parliamentary Assembly, EurAsEC Parliamentary Assembly and CIS Executive Committee.

Following the results of the long- and shot-term observation the Mission will elaborate a final document on monitoring of the snap presidential elections of Kazakhstan.
