IJING. October 26. KAZINFORM /Russlan Suleimenov/ "China's accession to the UN 40 years ago has made the organization more representative," Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Director-General, United Nations Office at Geneva, told on Tuesday at the reception held at the People's Assembly Hall on the occasion of the 40th anniversary since the restoration of China's legitimate seat in the UN.

According to Tokayev, China plays a very important role in the UN. Having raised its world status and influence, China as a major power will keep on meeting its commitments and playing more positive role in maintaining security, justice and world peace for the future generations.

China's legitimate seat in the UN was restored October 25, 1971. This historic event marks the beginning of China's integration into the international world order.
