China grabs first gold in women's event at Almaty World Championships

ALMATY. KAZINFORM Tan Yayun, from China, grabbed a gold medal at the Almaty IWF World Championships with a clean sweep in the women's 48kg, while Ozkan Konak won silver lifting a total of 189 kg.

Thailand's Panida Khamsri finished second and was third overall, our correspondent reports. Kazakhstan's Margarita Yelisseyeva failed with all three snatch attempts and withdrew.
