«Chemical Park» Taraz» Special Economic Zone to be commissioned by 2015

TARAZ. KAZINFORM - Special Economic Zone (SEZ) "Chemical Park" Taraz" will start operation by the end of 2015, this has been announced at a meeting held in Zhambyl region.

Decree on the establishment of the tenth SEZ in Kazakhstan named "Chemical Park" Taraz" was signed by the President in 2012 in connection with the region's high potential for the development of chemical industry. Zhambyl region thave sufficient mineral resources, high transit potential, historically developed structure of chemical and energy industry as well as skilled professionals in the field of the chemical industry. "SEZ" Chemical Park "Taraz" occupying 505 hectares on the territory of Shu District, is focused on the use of advanced high-performance, environmentally friendly foreign and domestic innovations which will allow to produce highly competitive chemical products. The chemical partk will produce ammonia and its derivatives, plant-protecting agents and plant growth regulators, caustic soda, feed phosphates, flotation reagents, plastic pipes, glass containers etc. In the future this list can be expanded. It is expected that by 2020, on the territory of SEZ 16 production units will operate providing about 2.4 thousand people with new jobs. This will be beneficial for socio-economic development of the region. Preliminary assessment of the investments for SEZ "Chemical Park" Taraz" infrastructure amounted to KZT 24.5 billion. To date, the amount of investment in the project equals to USD 2.7 billion.
