British Council wins the AmCham Award 2011

ALMATY. June 2. KAZINFORM On 28 May the British Council won the American Chamber of Commerce's prestigious "Support for Kazakh Culture Award" for its contribution to the development of Kazakhstani culture. The nomination recognized the teams work in 3 projects: the workshops ran during the fashion exhibition, the 'artwork competition' and the 'modernization of museums' project.

In her acceptance speech, Country Director, Lena Milosevic, said: "I am very pleased to accept this award on behalf of the British Council team in Kazakhstan. It is affirming and encouraging: it says we are doing the right things and encourages us to continue doing them and do them even bigger and better."

The British Council was also mentioned in the nomination of another company: Kcell, for its partnership with the British Council on the SMS service "Phrase of the Day " developed for learners of English. Kcell received the "Community Service Award".

The award plaque is now proudly on display onthe Almaty office reception desk for all to see, the press service of the British Council reports.
