BREST-MINSK. May 9. KAZINFORM /Aituar Mamlin/ The day before the representatives of the Kazakh Embassy to Belarus visited the "Brest fortress-hero" memorial complex to lay flowers to the Eternal Fire of the Brest fortress and pay tribute to soldiers fallen in the World War II joining in a minute of silence.

According to Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Kazakhstan to the Republic of Belarus Anatoly Smirnov, the embassy jointly with the Belarusian colleagues hold many cultural events, devoted to traditions and customs of our nations, and first of all in memory of the fallen in the World War II.

The remains of 962 people died in the fortress lie under the granite gravestones. The names of 273 fortress defenders are written on them. They are the representatives of 21 nations of the former Soviet Union, including 4 Kazakhstanis.
