Belarus ranks third in CIS salary rate after Russia and Kazakhstan

MINSK. April 7. KAZINFORM In 2010 Belarus ranked third in the CIS in terms of wages after Russia and Kazakhstan, Inna Konoshonok, head of the Department of Living Standards Statistics and Household Survey of the National Statistics Committee of Belarus, told a press conference on 6 April, BelTA has learned.

According to BelTA, the salary in Belarus in 2010 was equal to $414 in the equivalent. In Russia this figure was $689, in Kazakhstan $526, in Azerbaijan - $405, in Armenia - $291, in Ukraine $282.

According to Inna Konoshonok, in 2010 salaries accounted for 56.1% of the total cash income of Belarusians. It is a crucial factor of the income flow for the majority of people in the country.

In 2010 the average salary of Belarusians (without non-state small businesses) went up 14.9% over 2009 to Br1.238 million.

Last year the average monthly wage in social security, agriculture, education, culture, healthcare, trade and public catering, housing and communal services and some other sectors was below the average rate in the country.

In line with the statistics, in 2010 the nominal monthly wage in the state-owned organizations increased by 18% over 2009 to reach Br983,700.

Inna Konoshonok said that in February 2011 the average monthly wage in Belarus increased by 25.1% as against the same period last year to the total of Br1.4393 million. In February 2011 the average monthly wage in the state-owned organizations made up Br1.2787 million. The real salary in the state-owned companies went up 40.5% over February 2011, and fell by 1.6% as against January 2010.
