ezhan Suleimenov (1912-1984) was a scientist-historian, Doctor of Historical Sciences, professor, member-correspondent of the Academy of Sciences of the Kazakh SSR, honored worker of science of Kazakhstan, winner of the Chokan Valikhanov Prize of the Academy of Sciences of the Kazakh SSR.

He was born in the Chelkar municipality of Aktobe oblast. Bekezhan graduated from the Historical Department of the Karl Liebknecht Moscow State Pedagogical Institute.

Bekezhan Suleimenov studied the problem of history and national liberation and revolutionary movements in Kazakhstan. He supported Yermakhan Bekmakhanov in treatment of the national liberation movement headed by Kenessary Kassymov. In 1952 he was arrested for 25 years. In 1954 he was rehabilitated.

At the end of the XIX century and at the beginning of the XX century he raised the agrarian issues and published scientific articles about the revolution of 1916, social and educational ideas of Kazakhstan.

Bekezhan Suleimenov studied creative heritage of Ybrai Altynsarin.

In 1980 he became a winner of the Chokan Valikhanov Prize of the Academy of Sciences of the Kazakh SSR.

He died in Almaty on June 30, 1984.
