ASTANA. KAZINFORM "The radon factor could not influence the situation with sleeping dropsy in Kalachi village of the Akmola district," head of the consumer rights protection committee of the National Economy Ministry of Kazakhstan Aliakpar Matishev told a briefing at the Central Communications Service.

He backed his words with the National Nuclear Centre research results. The report reveals that there is no environmental threat to population. It is incorrect to put a question that our government agencies or healthcare structures are helpless in this matter. We keep this situation under control. Our people are working there," he resumed.

As earlier reported, 53 people suffered sleeping sickness in Kalachi so far.
