Astana to hold International Mathematical Olympiad on July 2-14, 2010

ASTANA. January 12. KAZINFORM /Damir Baimanov/ The program of the 51st International Mathematical Olympiad for high school students that will be held in Astana on July 2-14, 2010 is posted on the official web site of the Olympiad.

As "Daryn" Republican Scientific Practical Center of the Kazakh Ministry of Education informed, over 600 school students, 300 team leaders and their deputies and observers from 110 countries of the world are expected to take part in the Olympiad.

The International Mathematical Olympiad is one of the most conspicuous scientific competitions in the world.

Kazakhstan started to take part in the Olympiad in 1992 as an observer. In 1993 our country became a member of the IMO. During this time Kazakhstani school students won 62 medals: 8 gold, 17 silver and 37 bronze.
