Ankara mayor carried the Asian Torch along Astana city

ASTANA. January 30. KAZINFORM. /Damir Baimanov/ Ankara mayor Melih Gökçek is the only foreign guest among the torchbearers who carried the Asian Flame along the city of Astana, Kazakhstan.

"I'd like to express my gratitude to Kazakhstan for the given opportunity. I am confident Astana and Ankara will enjoy not only the partnership relation but also true friendly ties," the Ankara mayor told journalists.

As earlier reported, above 100 torchbearers are involved in the torch relay at large. Among those attending are chairman of the National Space Agency Talgat Mussabayev, Senate deputy Kuanysh Sultanov, head of the Boxing Federation Timur Kulibayev, etc.
