mukhamed Abdulin (born in 1924) is an engineer, scientist, doctor of geological and mineralogical sciences, professor, member-correspondent and academician of the Academy of Sciences of the Kazakh SSR, honored worker of science of the Kazakh SSR, laureate of State Prize of the Kazakh SSR, academician of the International Engineering Academy and Engineering Academy of Kazakhstan, Honored academician of Bashkortostan Academy of Science, professor of University of South Carolina (USA) and First President of the National Committee of Geologists of Kazakhstan.

He was born in Ulytau village of Karsakpay (now Ulytau) municipality of Karaganda region.

In 1942-1946 he served in Soviet Army, he took part in German and Japan wars. In 1946-1948 he worked as the first secretary of Botandyk municipality committee of Komsomol. He graduated from Kazakh State University and postgraduate studies of Institute for Geological Sciences of the Academy of Sciences of the Kazakh SSR.

His scientific activity he started in K. Satpayev Institute of Geological Sciences in 1953 as an engineer. In 1953-1960 he was an engineer, laboratory assistant, junior and senior research worker, head of the laboratory; in 1961-1964 he was research secretary; in 1964-1974 - he was a deputy director of the Institute of Geological Sciences of the Academy of Science; in 1974-1995 he was the director of the Institute of Geological Sciences, deputy academician secretary and in 1988 he became the academic secretary of the Research Department on Land of the Academy of Sciences. Since 1995 he is an honored director of the Geological Institute of the Academy of Sciences of Kazakhstan.

In 1957 he is the discoverer of Samara copper-gold deposit.

He studied deposits of gold and copper in Central Kazakhstan, headed Mugolzhar complex expedition, discovered several deposits of oil in Kumkol, Aryskul and Nuraly.

He is the author of over 300 research works including 10 monographs.

He was awarded with several orders as the Order of October Revolution, Labor Red Banner, Patriotic World of the first degree, two orders of Red Star, Mongol People's Republic, Kurmet and Otan Orders including several medals and certificates of merit.

His name was enlisted into the Gold Book of Almaty city.
