lbek Maikotov (1869-1919) is a public figure, one of the fighters for the establishment of the Soviet system in Kazakhstan. He was born in Saryshoy village of Atbassar Uezd (Akmola region).

In 1887 he graduated from Russian-Kazakh Academy. He received education in Omsk Feldsher School.

In 1905-1907 he took an active part in organization of strikes of Atbassar workers. In 1916 he crushed against the mobilization of Kazakh youth for rearmost works, he gathered a troop on the territory of Ulytau.

In 1916 he was arrested by the local authority and was imprisoned. In 1917 he was released. In 1918 he was elected as the member of the District Executive Committee at the session of Atbassar District Council.

In summer 1918 after the overturn of Soviet government he fought against the Temporarily Siberian Government, Alash-Orda affiliates and later Kolchak's authority. In 1919 he was captured and by the decision of the extraordinary committee of Kolchak's government was sentenced to shooting.

A monument in his honor was opened in Atbassar town. Some of the streets in Astana city and Atbassar town received his name.
