ASTANA. December 18. KAZINFORM - In Kazakhstan there are about 10 million people who use the Internet, the chairman of the Committee of Information and Archives of the Ministry of Information and Culture Bolat Kalyanbekov reports.

"These processes do not only create favorable conditions for development of the national information space, but also bear certain challenges. Globalization, including in the field of information, experiences the strength of cultural and spiritual foundations of any society, and the development of new media; these processes become of more impetuous nature", said B.Kalyanbekov in Astana during the seminar-training to improve the competitiveness of Kazakhstan's media.

According to him, it took the U.S. 38 years to reach the audience of 50 million people, the U.S. television has passed the same way for 14 years, it took the Internet, in order to achieve these goals (50 million people), only 4 years". Only in the last 10 years the number of Internet users in the world has increased by 5 times, and now it stands at 2.5 billion people. Internet is rapidly evolving in Kazakhstan too", cites B.Kalyanbekov.

Moreover, over the past 4-5 years, according to him, this process has markedly accelerated. "In March 2013 Internet penetration in Kazakhstan amounted to 62.2 % of the population, it is about 10 million people. A number of sites and domain zones like "KZ" and "KAZ" for the period of 2010 - 2013 has doubled, reaching over 95 thousand domain names, then there are so many sites now operating in the All-Kazakhstan segment of the Internet", said the representative of Ministry.
