356 people applied for participation in contest for 'Bolashak' international scholarship

ASTANA. June 23. KAZINFORM - 356 people applied for the participation in the contest for 'Bolashak' international scholarship of the President of Kazakhstan in 2010, the press service of JSC 'Center for International Programs' informs.

148 people have applied on the basis of general competition, 20 people - on quota and 188 people are self-enrolled applicants.

179 participants expressed the willingness to receive education in technical disciplines, 167 - in humanitarian disciplines and 10 - in medical disciplines. 131 people applied for Bachelor's Degree Program, 207 people - for Master's Degree Program, 3 PhD applicants and 9 - for Clinical Residency Program. Higher educational institutions in the US, Switzerland, Canada and Russia are more popular with applicants.

Rural youth, public oficers, teachers and research workers can be eligible on the basis of special quotas. The Program provides scientific trainings in the leading universities, scientific centers and laboratories of the world.

A minimum level of foreign language skills for those applicants who join the Program on quota is lower than for those applicants who participate in the contest on the basis of general competition. Besides, they have the opportunity to have language courses up to four semesters of study (about 2 years).

Documents are accepted from June 7 to July 30 for academic courses and to September 30 for scientific trainings.

Around 3 thousand scholar holders are educated in the best educational institutions of 25 countries in the world.
