UST-KAMENOGORSK. September 7. KAZINFORM /Lyudmila Malko/ A proposal on returning to consideration of the project on 'carryover of the Siberian rivers from north to south' is among initiatives made by the Kazakh President at the VII Kazakh-Russian Inter-Regional Cooperation Forum.

The Kazakh side proposed this initiative as a real measure on solving the problem of 'shallowing of transboundary rivers'.

The problem of Irtysh dehydration has many negative consequences, which can be solved by this project implementation ensuring navigation restoration, N.Nazarbayev noted. According to him, 'there is no well-balanced, comprehensive approach to the single use of transboundary rivers, anf the two countries' governments should search joint ways of this problem solution'.
