02 September 2010, 16:43 Kazakhstan and Japan have similar approaches to ensuring stability and security - Majilis Chairman ASTANA. September 2. KAZINFORM /Muratbek Makulbekov/ Majilis Speaker Ural Mukhamedzhanov has received the delegation of the Japanese Parliament headed by Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Commission of the House of Representatives Muneo Suzuki; the Lower House's press service told Kazinform. The members of the Majilis group on cooperation with the Parliament of Japan attended the meeting. Mr. Mukhamedzhanov noted that Japan was among the first to recognize Kazakhstan's independence. He emphasized that both countries were interested in comprehensive expansion of bilateral political, economic and humanitarian contacts. According to him, the two states have similar approaches to the provision of stability and security in the world, mass destruction weapons nonproliferation, struggle against terrorism and extremism. "Today the world community is actively negotiating the initiative of our President on development of a universal treaty on horizontal and vertical nonproliferation of nuclear weapon", the Speaker added.
