27 August 2010, 12:09 Food Contract Corporation JSC to buy 2 mln tons of grain from farmers of Kazakhstan ASTANA. August 27. KAZINFORM /Gulnara Zhandagulova/ The Food Contract Corporation of Kazakhstan, the daughter company of KazAgro National Holding, will buy up to 2 mln tons of grain from the country's farmers at the price of KZT 26, 500 per a ton. "On August 26 at a session of the State Commission on Modernization of Economy it was decided to buy 2 mln tons of grain at the price of KZT 26, 500 per a ton by KazAgro National Holding JSC", a press release of the Holding reads. The grain will be purchased by the Holding's daughter company JSC National Company Food Contract Corporation by special quotas which will be distributed among the regions in proportion to gross harvest. The sources of financing will be the national budget and the Holding itself, the press release clarifies. "The purchase of 2010 allows the domestic farmers preserving the necessary level of income, ensuring food security of the country and keeping export potential of the Kazakhstan grain", Chairman of the Board of KazAgro Holding Asylzhan Mamytbekov said. These measures will help the agricultural producers get ready to the spring-sowing campaign as well as improve financial liquidity of grain farming. According to the press service of the Holding, the terms and parameters of purchase will be posted at the website of JSC NC Food Contract Corporation. Alongside, the Food Contract Corporation and the Grain Union of Kazakhstan will enter into memorandums with the regional akimats on supply of deficient volumes of grain and flour to the regions till October 1, 2010 in order to stabilize bread prices on the domestic market.
