Appeal to world community regarding nuclear tests adopted in Astana
ASTANA. August 26. KAZINFORM /Kanat Kulshmanov/ At today's conference devoted to the International Day against Nuclear Tests the participants adopted an appeal to the world community.

The top officials of Kazakhstan, the UN and the representatives of international organizations call on the world community to celebrate the International Day of August 29 with practical actions with the purpose of a complete ban on testing nuclear weapons.

They emphasize the significant contribution of Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev to the global disarmament and nonproliferation, through his historic decision to renounce its world's fourth largest nuclear arsenal.

The participants also note the importance of early entry into force of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty. They welcome the program of Semipalatinsk region development for 2011-2015. The program will be financed by the Government of Kazakhstan and UN agencies.
