18 August 2010, 19:42 British Ambassador to Kazakhstan to perform Beatles' songs in Almaty ALMATY. August 18. KAZINFORM /Yelena Ilinskaya/ British Ambassador to Kazakhstan David Moran is expected to perform at "Beatles" songs festival that will be held in Almaty on August 30 under the motto "World Without War!" Director of the festival, head of "Tabigat" Ecological Union Mels Yeleusizov has made it public today. As earlier reported, the song festival is devoted to the 50th anniversary of the music band and the 70th anniversary of its leader John Lennon. As representative of the British Council Maiya Zedelashvili said, the Englishmen identify themselves with the music of the Beatles. "This is a cultural heritage, classical for them, and they love it as much as the world loves Mozart. The younger generation of the British understands that the music they are listening to today wouldn't exist without the Beatles", she said. Outstanding politicians and public figures including Senator Gani Kassymov, designer Kuralay Nurkadilova and Mels Yeleusizov himself will perform at the festival together with the British Ambassador. Besides, the Ecological Union initiated establishment of an alley named after John Lennon in Almaty. The alley will be probably opened on Kok Tobe Mountain near the monument to the Beatles installed in 2007. Comments (0)
