Astana applied for hosting EXPO-2017

ASTANA. August 17. KAZINFORM /Gulnara Zhandagulova/ Astana applied for hosting EXPO International exhibition in 2017, the press service of the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Kazakhstan reports.

"After successful participation in EXPO-2008 in Saragossa where Kazakhstan took third place among 104 participating countries, we decided to apply for the right to host EXPO-2017 in Astana", the press release writes.

Such cities as Edmonton, Montreal, Lille and Liege are planned to compete for the right to hold the exhibition in 2017.

In case of election of Astana as the city of exhibition holding Kazakhstan will attract big investments for construction of the Expocenter. The infrastructure built for EXPO-2017 will serve for holding of the exhibition at the highest level as well as be a part of the municipal infrastructure in the future. In this regard, construction of new business centers, hotels and exhibition complexes are planned as well.

ASTANA. KAZINFORM - Head of State Nursultan Nazarbayev has signed the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan "On amendments to some legislative acts of the Republic of Kazakhstan on the issues of transition of the Republic of Kazakhstan ‘to green economy'" called to improve legislation in the sphere of ecology and renewable energy sources, the president's press service reports.
