ZHAMBYL REGION. August 11. KAZINFORM /Galina Skripnik/ Due to substantial state support to agriculture the pace of development of this industry remains the same, akimat of Zhambyl region informs.

The amount of agricultural products made to KZT 84.4 bln last year which is 17.4 percent more than in 2008. The region has increased production of grain crops, potatoes, oilseeds, meat, milk, wool, eggs. The number of cattle was increased as well.

New water saving technology has been implemented in arable farming of 900 ha.

The number of big agricultural producers has increased as well, there were 43 of them in 2008 and 46 in 2009. Currently there are around 89 bred livestock farms in the region.

Investment projects on construction of pig breeding farm, cattle feeding complex and poultry farm have already been realized.

In order to provide enough vegetables for the people of the region, 186 greenhouses were build and around 100 greenhouses were build in 2009.
