07 August 2010, 14:53 UN concerned over young Kazakhstanis' reproductive health - conference in Astana ASTANA. August 7. KAZINFORM /Murat Zhakeyev/ A national consultative conference on improvement of the policy of protection of adolescents reproductive health was held in Astana today. The conference participants discussed the state of youth's reproductive health and proposed new ways of solution of the current problems in this sphere. In their opinion, Kazakhstan needs to conduct a detailed analysis of the neighbor countries' experience, for instance, Europe in this field. Among the major factors negatively influencing the youth's reproductive health are early sexual activity, lack of regular sexual partner, growth of sexually transmitted infections among young people, low awareness of contraception and prevention of HIV and sexually transmitted infections. The event was organized by the UN Fund for Population Activities in Kazakhstan. Representatives of the Ministry of Healthcare, National Centre of Problems of Health Lifestyle Formation, non-governmental organizations were invited to the conference.
