KAZINFORM /Nikolai Kuznetsov/ 'Construction of the first chlor-alkali production facility in Kazakhstan is running as scheduled', Chairman of the Board of 'Caustic' JSC Erlan Orymbekov assured Governor of Pavlodar region Bakytzshan Sagintaev at the meeting of Coordinating Council. New facility is built on the territory of former Pavlodar chemical complex. The cost of the project is USD 108 mln. Environmentally safe membrane method is used in the production that eliminates mercury use. The facility is expected to produce 30 thousand tons of soda, 26 thousand tons of liquid chlorine, 45 thousand tons of hydrochloric acid and 6.6 thousand tons of sodium hypochlorite. Raw material to be used at the plant is salt from the lakes of the region. 80-90 percent of the product is for the needs of Kazakhstan to replace expensive imported products and the rest is for exporting. Commissioning of the new plant is planned for the end of the year.
