ASTANA. March 18. KAZINFORM /Serik Sabekov/ A meeting of Kazakh Prosecutor General Kairat Mami with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Russia to Kazakhstan Mikhail Bocharnikov has been held today in Astana, Kazinform refers to the press service of the Prosecutor's Office.

The Kazakh Prosecutor General informed the Russian Ambassador on the role of the Kazakh prosecutor's office in the system of law-enforcement agencies of Kazakhstan as a legal instrument on provision of rights, freedoms and interests of people.

It was noted that due to ratification of the CIS convention on the transfer of convicts for the consequent service of sentence as of March 6, 1998 by Russia the two states today have an opportunity to positively consider appeals on transfer of convicts to their motherland.

The sides complimented the effectiveness of interaction of the law-enforcement bodies of two states in the field of struggle against criminality and mutual legal assistance on criminal cases.

Upon the results of the meeting the parties agreed to further development of the Kazakh-Russian cooperation.
