ASTANA.  March 16. KAZINFORM Human Rights Commissioner of Kazakhstan Askar Shakirov has received Regional Representative/ Regional Coordinator/ for Central Asia at the United Nations High Commission for Refugees Saber Azam today.

At the meeting the Ombudsman told about the priority directions of state activity in protection of refugees' rights in Kazakhstan, the process of implementation of generally accepted international standards in national legislation in this sphere.

The UN Representatives highly appraised Kazakhstan's efforts in this field and noted that adoption of the Law On refugees by our country gives positive impulse to observance of rights of these people.

The parties also focused on the issues connected with strengthening cooperation of the national human rights institute with the UN, the press service of the Kazakh Ombudsman reports.
