06 Martha 2010, 09:42 Monument to famous Kazakh poet Zhambyl Zhabayev to be opened in Kiev ASTANA. March 5. KAZINFORM A monument to famous Kazakh poet and thinker Zhambyl Zhabayev will be erected in Kiev, Ukrinform reports. A corresponding order was signed by Mayor of the city Leonid Chernovetsky. "Erection of the monument to Zhambyl Zhabayev, famous Kazakh thinker, master of poetic improvisation will become one more step towards strengthening friendship between Kiev and Astana. Z. Zhabayev visited Ukraine several times, he was interested in Ukrainian poetry and literature especially in the oeuvre of Taras Shevchenko", Vice Chairman of the municipal administration Sergey Rudyk notes. The monument will be built in Nivki Park opposite the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Ukraine. In 2008 by a decision of the Kiev municipal council Kuzminskaya street was renamed in Zhambyl Zhabayev streed. In May 2009 there was opened a memorial plate to the Kazakh poet. Comments (0)
