ASTANA. March 3. KAZINFORM /Muratbek Makulbekov/ The draft Law "On ratification of the Agreement between Kazakhstan and Russia on cooperation development for effective use of Baikonur launch complex" has been approved at the plenary session of Majilis of the Kazakh Parliament.

"The Agreement provides that Kazakh and Russian experts and organizations will have similar terms to participate in implementation of joint projects at Baikonur launch complex. Rising of environment security for space-rocket activity at Baikonur complex now is seen through modernization of existing space-rocket complexes as well as creation of the environmentally safe new ones for further gradual reduction of carrier vehicles which use high-toxic rocket fuel components", - Chairman of the National Space Agency of Kazakhstan Talgat Mussabayev said.

According to him the Agreement gives weight to modernization of the infrastructure of Baikonur complex and its historically significant facilities. The Agreement also provides development and creation of Baiterek rocket and space complex at Baikonur space-launch complex. According to the Agreement the lease period for Baikonur complex is prolonged till 2050.  The Agreement was signed on January, 9, 2004.
