KAZINFORM /Gulnara Zhandagulova/ The economic development of Astana in 0.1% put it on par with the most stable cities in the world; Mayor of Astana city Imangali Tasmagambetov has said it today at the meeting with population. "Following the results of 2009 the gross regional product (GRP) of Astana city reached KZT 1 trln 373.7 bln. The macroeconomic surplus made 0.1%. The industrial enterprises of the city produced and rendered services amounted to over KZT 95 bln", the Akim said. The same time, according to the Mayor, the inflation rate in Astana made 6.5% whereas over KZT 360 bln was invested to the capital stock. The share of Astana in the national volume of investments to the capital stock made 7.9%. "These macroeconomic indices demonstrate high stability even amid the global financial crisis", he noted. The principal factor for stable development of Astana has become the global tendency to predominance of small and medium businesses in urban economy. At present, about 60% of GRP of the city is accounted for business, whereas its share in service increased from 33.3% to 42.6% against 2008. According to the report, about 18,000 jobs were created last year. Road Map Program let employ over four thousand people as well as renew the urban infrastructure. KZT 10 bln was allocated to Astana within the Road Map whereas 114 projects have been already implemented. Due to the efficient implementation of Road Map and positive dynamics of the economy the proportion of registered unemployed to the economically active population made 0.8%. 44 projects are expected to be implemented within Road Map Program this year; about 3 000 jobs will be created.
