Kazakhstan must develop national policy on emission reduction – round table in Astana
ASTANA. January 19. KAZINFORM Kazakhstan must develop the national policy and development plans adjusted for the observance of liabilities on emission reduction accepted according to Kyoto Protocol; the press-release of the round table's organizers said.

In this point one of the important issues becomes the development of alternatives sources of energy (use of sun, wind energy and etc.), as well as the organization of special projects within the industrial-innovation development of Kazakhstan.

The report on development of the national plans concerning conceptual study of greenhouse gas emissions and low-carbon development of economy in Kazakhstan till 2020 and 2050 was also presented on the round table.

The round table, titled "Climate Change: International Negotiation Process. Conception for Low-Carbon Development" was held under the project of UNDP and Kazakh Government.

Representatives of key Kazakh ministries, institutions and organizations and the expert of the UNDP regional office on climate change took part in the event.

The Kyoto Protocol is a protocol to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC or FCCC), aimed at combating global warming. The UNFCCC is an international environmental treaty with the goal of achieving "stabilization of greenhouse gas concentrations in the atmosphere at a level that would prevent dangerous anthropogenic interference with the climate system."
