ASTANA. January 19. KAZINFORM /Damir Baimanov/ Over 200 thousand people in Kazakhstan are engaged in the national sports.

Minister of Tourism and Sport Temirkhan Dosmukhambetov has announced it at the enlarged session of the Ministry's Board on Tuesday, January 19.

"The national sports - kazakhsha-kures (Kazakh wrestling), togyzkumalak (nine stowns), equestrian sports and others - got significant development. At present over 200 thousand people are engaged in these sports", he noted.

The Minister also noted popularity of the Paralympic and Youth Sport. According to him, 12,000 athletes-invalids are engaged in physical activities in sport schools, clubs and sections.

At present 23,000 sport schools function in Kazakhstan. 508 thousand school students are engaged there.
