ASTANA. May 24. KAZINFORM Kazakhstan has the use of the wind energy potential, it can be 18 times higher than the existing capacity of the country's power, said at the panel session titled "Strategy for Sustainable Energy Future of Kazakhstan" at the VI Astana Economic Forum the Special Advisor to the UN Serge Martin.

"The use of wind as an energy source can produce 25 times more energy each year than from oil, gas and coal. You have 50 thousand km of area where the wind speed is 7 m / s and these wind resources can produce 354 gigawatts of energy at the rate of installed capacity. It is 18 times more than the total installed capacity in Kazakhstan ", said S.Martin.

However, he noted that with such amounts of energy in the future it will be possible to export it to China.

In addition, the UN advisor believes that Kazakhstan needs to create a financial center that would be specialized in energy projects and ensure the supply of energy to the Pacific market.
